ROLE
Lead interaction designer of Gear S2 for North America / SAMSUNG
As a lead interaction designer of Gear S2 for the North American market, I focused on solidifying the overall user experiences for this product, especially for customers in the United States. In addition to leading the product’s user interface design (UX), my responsibilities included managing and delegating work across a UX team of more than 20 designers and driving design conversations with telecommunications operators in the U.S., including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Samsung Gear S2 was the first smartwatch to feature the new way of user interface, using its rotating bezel. This spinning UX, optimized for its round form factor, provided an intuitive usability and analog emotion and received both an IF Design Award and a Bronze Medal from IDEA.
I was involved in the product development process from product planning to quality assurance phase to deliver this brand new user experience of smartwatches to U.S. customers.
I contributed to improving the usability and interaction from the original Gear S device, led communications with the U.S. carriers to make carrier customizations, and maintained the core aspects of Gear S2’s design.
